Gonggi is a traditional Korean children's game that is similar to the Western game “Jacks”. It is usually played with five small, colorful plastic stones (previously with small pebbles). The game promotes dexterity, hand-eye coordination and quick reflexes.
How is Gonggi played?
Preparation:
The five stones are thrown onto the floor.
Course of the game:
The game consists of several rounds (levels):
Level 1: Throw a stone into the air, while doing so pick up a stone from the ground and catch the thrown stone again.
Level 2: Throw a stone up and this time pick up two stones at the same time.
Level 3: Pick up three stones.
Level 4: Pick up all four stones.
Increase:
At higher levels, the movements become more complex, e.g. you have to balance stones on the back of your hand.
